Teaching, research and clinical practice are the foundations that support dentistry. It is important to understand that without research and teaching our specialities become a simple pedagogic exercise. We believe that dentistry should be based in scientific evidence. Clinical practice is no longer accepted without it being supported by scientific work that ensures its effectiveness. It is for this reason that old mechanical concepts were surpassed by the "adhesive era".

The objective of the course is to develop the following abilities in students: 

Adhesive Reconstructions:

•    To understand that the use of laminate veneers must be interpreted as a complex oral rehabilitation.
•    The development of facial analysis, and customization of the ideal smile by using a sequenced scientifically based approach.
•    To understand the importance of dental photography for the development of a photographic protocol for digital planning in aesthetic dentistry.
•    The development and understanding of the role of mock-up from the wax up to the mouth.
•    Demonstration & Hands-on for the silicone key ( Professor ), veneer cementation and teeth preparation.
•    The learning and reproducibility from basic to advanced preparation techniques, The Scientifically Designed Veneer by Carlos de Carvalho
•    The most updated literature regarding bonding, substrate and porcelain adhesion treatment protocol.
•    The learning and improvement of the necessary techniques for the implementation of laminate veneers:
o    The Scientifically Designed Veneer Diagnosis
o    When to consider ceramic veneers
o    Impression techniques and scanning approach
o    Selection of porcelain and laboratory technique of laminate veneers
o    Substrate color selection
o    Try-in and adjustments for adaptation
o    Core foundations
o    Occlusal schemes

Tooth Preparations:

For a full day we will attempt to reconcile the "Old and Agressive" way of doing things, as some call it, with the new and conservative ideas. 

We will do so not by Dogma or Opinions, but by looking for answers on the DentLit. Are those thing we believe to be true supported by strong science?

Is Retention and Resistance and myth?

We will cover and review all the concepts that relate to tooth preparation.

Techniques, Preps, Burs, Pulp, Margins, Finish Lines, Material Selection, Occlusion, etc. 

It will all be combined with your own Hands On practice. Dr. Miguel A. Ortiz will demonstrate and review all crowns prep in an epic open Q & A. 

It is two days of science and knowledge sharing with the most hands on component ever developed.
